Breaking News from The Junk World

Last week I promised some news from the Junk world, so hear goes. Ki Nassauer, Junker Extraordinaire, is going in a new direction. She will continue her monthly column in Country Home magazine, and having her annual Junk Bonanza . In addition to that, she is starting a new venture called Junk Revolution . Junk Revolution will be a FREE website devoted to Junk, Junkers, Ideas, Projects, Shopping etc.
I was lucky enough to spend some time with Ki on the phone this week and she’s got lots of great ideas for the Junkers out there, so be sure to pop on over to her website and sign up for updates and information on what’s coming in the Junk Revolution.

In addition, this is a reminder that the annual Junk Bonanza is coming up in September in Minneapolis . Ki has put together a wonderful gift bag for purchasers of Early Bird Admission tickets, in addition to getting to shop EARLY, and snag all the great Junk.

And as I’ve mentioned before, the Red Shed Girls can make it easy for you by booking your flight, hotel, transportation, getting your early bird tickets, and some added excursions, all for a great package price. Be sure to check out their package here
I’ve already booked mine so come along with us for some fun in the north country.

And there is more. I'm currently trying to talk Ki into starting a blog. She needs a little encouragement, so readers and lurkers unite. Reply here to encourage Ki to Join our blogging community.

Now back to your regular scheduled programming.

Busy Saturday, New Junk and some News

Hi all,
this is what I've been doing today.

We aren't finished, but some of the hardest areas are done. I'm so glad to get that carpet out of there. It was gross.
I promised pictures from my Buying Trip Junk so here goes. Most items for sale, feel free to inquire.

Love these ball baskets from the Red Shed Girls, I got some of those big shoe forms, A Giant Thermometer sign, some old baby gowns, and some other Trinkets for my booth.

An old mirror harp, some gym baskets, folding rulers and an urn

Would you believe this shelf was $3.00? It will be great in my booth, and an old street sign.

I picked up this wire tree for jewelry display. It's not old, but I really liked it.

Now for News!!!! Tune in sometime next week for some news from the Junking World.

Buying Trip

yesterday I had business in the DFW area, so I decided to make a day of it. My first stop was the town of Forney which is known for lots of antique stores right on the highway. However, several of these stores are out of business, so It's not as big as it used to be but I got lots of good stuff. For now I have a little Eye candy from a shop that has SO MUCH stuff, much of it very unique, that I actually didn't see it all. Their prices weren't great so I only picked up a few small things, but I think you'll enjoy these pictures.

No Airconditioning but plenty of fans.

They had tons of these baskets, all filled with these military tubes.
Looked like military surplus to me, but what was their purpose?

Tons of metal signs

These are the biggest shoe forms I've ever seen.

Fun with pool balls and snow shoes

Need a bucket?

How about a sap bucket

Or a colorful painted bucket

I love drawers

Stopp clowning around

Oops, I've fallen and I can't get up

What is this????

More drawers

Then I headed towards Grapevine to visit the Red Shed Girls
and Yes, to buy even more stuff (some really neat stuff).

Val risked breaking her camera, and took this shot of my next to a beautiful angel statue they are selling. They are having their semi-monthly sale this Saturday, so If you live in the area head over. It'll be worth your while, they find the best stuff.
Then I had a little bit of time to kill, so I headed to an antique mall I used to visit when I lived in this area, and picked up yet more stuff.
Then off to my hair appointment (yes that is the reason for the trip) and then to see
my BFF - Penny, for dinner, and then back home, arriving at 10:30 pm.
It was a great day and I'll fill you in on my purchases tomorrow.

More Fun with Numbers and a Tag

I just love the mail carrier. This wonderful package of numbers arrived this past weekend.

I got them off Etsy. They are from an old cash Register. I have some black ones on order as well.
See those cards underneath the Dundee Jar. They are some flash cards that I picked up this past weekend.
I be been having fun with numbers and letters in my hutch

I sold a few big pieces in my booth this weekend, and when I got there today, it looked as if a tornado had blown through. So I did my best to re-arrange it and get it all sorted out. It's good to sell stuff though, but I do get attached so it's sad as well.
Strange isn't it. I'm in the business to sell, but I also seem to hang on a bit.
Oh well, more room for more stuff.

I've been tagged by Laurie Anna

I've been remiss in passing on the tag, but I'm finally around tuit.
Here are the rules to this tag
1. Link back to the person that tagged you (see the link above).
2. Post these rules on your blog.
3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your entry.

6 unimportant things about myself
I've done this before and it is so hard to think of 6 new things, but I'll try.
1) I sleep with a CPAP machine
2) I had at least 6 cats named "midnight" when I was a girl.
3) I was a cheerleader in the 8th grade
4) I'm 5'2"
5) I'm a bit OCD
6) My goal when I was a child was to be a "grown up".

Now 6 to pass it on to.
So many have been tagged before. So if you've NOT been tagged, consider yourself tagged and share 6 things and pass it on.

Take care,
Margo

Fun with Photos

My oldest son is a photographer. Mostly weddings, but he can do other stuff too, and he's got great equipment. So I asked him if he'd take some pics of some of my junk to do a photo gallery. I pulled out every old machine I could think of, An old fan, sewing machine, typewriter, cameras etc. Then we got them printed in B&W and I framed them. I love the look. Modern, yet vintage at the same time.

This is the first grouping. A Fan, sewing machine, and typewriter

The second grouping, cameras on each side, and a movie projector in the middle

This is an old violin

Close up Sewing machine

close up movie projector.
They look really good in person. Right now he's getting me the pictures in digital form, and I'm going to be adding them to my web site for sale. We may do some more as well.
PS: If you are interested in what happened with the poor puppy, read the post below.

New necklace design and doggie update

do you remember this necklace that I saw at the Flea Market?

Well I finally got around to designing some of my own, based on it.
Mine are different, but I think you'll see the similarities.

My camera is not doing well with close up pictures so these are not real good.
The last one is mine, I made it removable and I've got another one that I can slip on in it's place.
I really like these and will probably be making some more and adding them to my jewelry line.

Update: I've added them to my jewelry page

Flatware Necklaces on Pony Lace

Price $18.00ea

Now the doggie update: I think this is one of those decisions where there is no right or wrong answer. We let animal control take her and we have not heard from them. We've decided that with all the problems she has it is better to let them make the decision. At least we made her last couple of days comfortable, put some food in her belly and gave her a cool place to hang out.

TamiV Found my Platter!!!!!!

Well I knew my blog friends would come through. You all had great suggestions on where to find the platter I was looking for, but they were all sold out. TamiV saw one in a store and sent me the info. The store is in Lewiston, ID and called Bella Lucia 208-743-4063. The owner, Lucia, was so nice and I told her I'd mention her on my blog. If you live in the area be sure to stop by her place. She is sending the platter to me UPS. Can't wait to get it.

Oh, and she has another one if anyone is interested, along with lots of other Rosanna dishes
Thanks Tami and Lucia

HeartWarming Weekend Find, and Help me find...

I wasn't able to do much hunting this weekend, due to the Grand Opening of the Antique Mall. But I did stop at a few, and at one (in the rain) I found this lovely gem.

I'm sure it has provided much physical warmth in the past, and Now it will warm my heart every time I pass by.
Isn't it wonderful. It's staying with me for awhile.

Please HELP me find one of these.
I've been looking for this for awhile now.

It's a Rosanna Waiter's Tray, in the Party Raffle pattern. If anyone knows where I can get one please Let me know. They are discontinued by the mfgr, and nobody has any in stock. Update: I've gotten several suggestions and, Replacements, overstock.com, cooking.com, Amazon, Buy.com, and spiegel are all out of stock. Any other ideas?? Keep em coming.

And in Family Matters:
DS#2, the recent graduate, decided to "BIC" his hair.

Oh well, it's only hair. Still a good lookin fella though.
Have a great week,
Margo

Amazing Photo

I ran across this photo making the rounds today. I was just amazed

This particular tornado did not hurt anyone and only touched down for a short while. But this picture shows the power AND beauty in these amazing storms. I can understand why they have been called "the finger of God". I live in tornado Alley and have never actually seen one, but I've seen the damage they leave behind. Here is the complete story behind this picture

Stay safe,
Margo
