Nice Weekend

My BFF (Penny) came to visit this weekend and we had fun touring the Historic Tyler Spring Home tour. We saw several historic Tyler homes, all decorated very nicely. Many with nice yards, full of azaleas and other blooming plants. I'm sorry but no pictures were allowed,
This is something I've done 3 out of the 4 springs I've lived here, and twice with Penny. One home in particular struck my fancy. Most of the homes were decorated in a traditional way, one was done with lots of primitives, I liked that, and one in particular was done in shabby chic. This lady and I would get along real well, I could tell. One of the first projects I noticed in her house was a shelf. This shelf was made from an old coffee table. The table had been cut, length wise, and hung on the wall as a shelf, It had one set of legs, hanging below as if they were still attached, and they were curved and carved. It was all painted out and distressed in green I think. I could tell it was a very interesting table, but it made a wonderful shelf. She also had some nice picture displays that were made T2T. One was a metal piece, and she used old clip earrings to Clip the pictures to it. In another room, she had a collection of old hand mirrors (like me) and she had them arranged inside an old frame. So guess what I did. I came home and my friend and I re-arranged my collection of hand mirrors inside a frame that I had.

I like this arrangement a lot. I have always felt that the mirrors were lost in the wallpaper (which was here when I bought the home), but I think the frame helps them to stand out. I could also paint a backer board and mount the mirrors on it, to separate them out a bit if I want to later. All of this without having to change the wallpaper, which I'm not looking forward to doing.

Here's a pic I took of some wisteria that was growing across from one of the homes we toured.

These are some of my Azaleas

I just love East Texas in the Spring.

and here is how I hung my metal star that I just love, from Hobby Lobby

well This week I'll be busy moving my booth and then First Monday Flea Market on Friday or Saturday. I've got lots of supplies to get so It will be fun to see what else I find.
Hope you all have a good week. Be sure to check back for pics of my new booth progress throughout the week.

I love how you did the star! The mirrors look great too.
Glad you had a nice time on the tour - makes me wish I could have gone this year but it wasn't the right weekend for me. (and I had a great weekend!)
I'm still trying to get up there to see your booth. I'm going to have to just make a special trip or put it at the top of my to do list, that way I'll do it first and not throw in the towel before I get there!
Have a great week. Can't wait to see progress pictures.

So did you give the lady a business card so you could talk later? I want to see the table shelf and knowing you, one will pop up soon. Love the mirrors in the frame.

Hi Margo,
Sounds like you had a fun time touring the lovely homes with your friend. I love what you did with the star. Jamie and I were hanging out together at the flea market today. We had fun, and we chatted about you. We would see stuff and say Margo would know exactly what to do with that. Wish you could have been with us. We talked about how fun it would be to visit you in Texas.
Have a wonderful week,
Rosemary
