A project and some finds

I was looking around at Fifi's blog
the other night and a project hit me. Remember those green tables from the last post. I decided to spice them up a bit.
I took a bunch of letterpress letters I had and stamped the heck out of them.

It looks better in person. I still have to stabilize those legs and put some more laquer over the letters, But I'm happy with the whimsical quality of it. You could do this with any stamps actually. Fifi did it with script lettering on a white coffee table.

here are some goodies I found at the sales yesterday.
They are all being listed on ebay this week.

oops got my toes in this pic :)

I love old signeage, and I'm a sucker for those chip clips. And aren't those
table legs to die for. Look at those details.

Well DH and I are off to the Flea Market tomorrow morning (before it gets too hot).
I'm looking forward to it.
Have a good one.

Prom & Some Tables

DS #2 had prom this weekend, And he and his group looked so nice I thought I'd share.
He's in this pic on the far left with the girl in the red dress.

Isn't he handsome!!!!
they had a great time and I'm so glad my little (introvert) stepped out of his comfort Zone to do this.
Graduation June 7.

Remember these tables

Well they are just about finished. I'm just trying to strengthen the legs, but I think they look a lot nicer painted. The finish was just unsavable.

Saturday Finds & Weight loss Update

Son #2 had a party last night for his 17th BD. Tonight is Prom so I've been a bit busy. But not too busy to ask the boys to move their cars this morning so I could get out to hit some sales.
Here's what I found.

I got this great old crib. Not sure what to do with it yet, but I loved the clean lines.
It is old. I has a great old wooden spring set with it. Couldn't pass it up

These 4 windows. I broke 2 panes of glass on the way home. I've got some projects in mind for these for my next Barn sale

This old wooden drying rack, not sure what to do with it, but I'll think of something

This box of wooden frames, you know how I love frames for projects.

These great tins, That Benne Bits has a wonderful Mammy graphic on it
and take a look at that tin cake carrier with handle.

And I loved this skipper & Scotter case, It's in great condition

Look at these trinkets all in a box together. Does anyone know what that little
girl and boy figure are???

remember these? This is T2T from the past. These are made from old
soda cans, and there would be a pin cushion on the seat. I remember seeing these
everywhere when I was a kid.
That's about it for this weekend.

2 pounds down on the weight 8 to go. Woo Hoo!!!!

Hope you all had happy junk hunting.

Common Objects

You've heard of Uncommon Objects, but I want to take a moment to talk about Common Objects. Those things found in every home, that can used in new and creative ways, to cheaply decorate and accessorize your space. I see a lot of this in the blog world, and you bloggers out there continue to inspire me with your arrangements. Here are a couple of examples...
You've seen cloches, and conservatories with plants in them, but what about clocks????

This idea hit me this morning while I was getting ready for work. The clock faces were in an old gym wire basket, so I just moved them to this little conservatory I had removed from my booth.
Then what to put in that gym basket???

Frames of course. Wooden frames are a favorite of mine to pick up at Garage Sales. These were in a box waiting for DH to give me his old ancestor photos for framing. Until that happens, they will reside here.

Here is a glass jar filled with old finials waiting for future projects

That is just 3 examples of taking common objects and turning them into something beautiful, fun and different for your home.

Junk is coming to me

A good friend of mine, brought me this great junk today. I was just thrilled and Oh the possibilities.

Old Buttons and Prisms galore.....
This is one good thing about having a booth. People are starting to know that I will re-purpose their unwanted junk, and they are starting to bring it to me. I am so blessed. Thanks to my friend for this great stash of stuff.

Monday is booth day for me. It's the time to put out all the new goodies I found over the weekend. Today I had lots of larger items to put out and so I had to re-do many displays. Here are some pics . See anything you like? Just Let me know.
Child's Playouse Shelf, and wall hutch with mini dishes.

Not much new here, just moving stuff around

I had so much fun setting up my little hutch

This is a fun idea I saw on teresa cano's page awhile back. Cloche full of dishes, stacked willy-nilly.

Wire cloche with bird nest, on T2T cake plate.

I just love this old music box, jewelry box.

Disguising the back of my screen divider with old picture frame collage.

It was really hot today, 94 degrees in May. That's the price we pay for our great weather weekend. From unseasonable cool, to unseasonably hot. Oh well, in Texas we just roll with the punches, when it comes to heat waves. God Bless Air Conditioning.
Over and out,

Funny little project

Here's the funny doll parts, project I promised. My DH said she looks like she's falling in a grave. That was not my intention. Not real sure how I feel about this just yet. I call it, "falling for you".

I was actually inspired by this piece, that I saw at a local sale.

these are mannequin parts and on a larger scale.

If you haven't already,
be sure to read the post below for a great funny about our "economic stimulus" checks.

Great day for Junking

Firstly the weather was wonderful for Texas this morning. Around the 70's, I started out with a jacket, but was done with it by 9:30. I had mapped out my route and headed towards, what is known around here as, the Azalea District. It's an area of older homes near downtown., and it did not dissapoint. Here are my finds.

This is a unique drawer organizer that the seller's husband made in shop class long ago when he was in high school. And look at the old lace embellishment pieces I got.

And a bunch of Doll parts. I don't really know why I pick this stuff up, but it seems to be showing up in the magazines lately, so I pick it up and try to sell it. I did do a craft with some of it that I'll show tomorrow.

This cute children's china hutch, it is old.

as well as all the china pieces you see there.
And then there is the cream of the crop...

The kleenex box is there for scale. I just loved this salesman's sample hutch,
when I saw it. It's perfectly chippy, and has great hardware.

Not a loose board on the thing

Now for a funny:
How to use Your IRS Rebate check...
As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline, it will go to the Arabs. If we purchase a computer, it will go to India. If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Honduras and Guatemala. If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan. If we purchase useless stuff it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at
yard sales, since those are the only businesses left owned by Americans !!
PASS IT ON !!!!

Good Junk

Every so often I run across so good a deal I can't pass it up. It doesn't matter if I don't have a place for it or not. That is the story behind this piece.

The Gals who run the Gresham Barn sale had a Garage Sale. And were selling off some stuff they've had for awhile, at a discount. When I saw this I just had to have it. DH Gave me that look, but lovingly helped me pick it up. For now it's on my porch.

On Another note:
The family and I just got back from a funeral, and I was able to get some pics of my crew all dressed up. That doesn't happen often so I thought I'd share.

That other good lookin fella is a Brother in law.
