Making it useful

I recently found an old china hutch desk thing for a steal and brought it home. It was missing a foot, and kept falling over, and it was missing all it's lower drawers. My Intention was to canabilize it. First I removed the beautiful doors on it and sold them.

Then I removed the organizer insert and sold it.

Then I was left with a shell. No drawers, no doors just a shell. I put it in the back of my mind thinking that I would find some use for the beautiful wood, but just never got around to demolishing it. Then it hit me, "I need shelving and display space in my booth, but it's a dark piece and I don't want to paint it". Solution-decopage sheet music to the back of the shelves. Once the solution hit me and it did not involve paint, I was ready to go.

I used some shutters to cover up the emptyness of the missing drawers. The shutters open so I can use that part to store my supplies.

And here it is in it's new home.

Perfect for display. See everything is useful eventually.
BTW Stuff is selling in my space very well. I know that it's because it's new and hasn't been seen before, but I'm very excited at some of the things that are gone, making room for new stuff. I'm having fun.

Loved how you used the sheet music in your piece. Your booth looks fantastic! My DH has relatives in Tyler and, though we don't visit very often, the next time we're down there (which might be another year or so) I'm heading your shops way!!!

I'm so glad you showed us that. It looks great! I've been wanting to do that to a cabinet in the shop, but the space between the shelves is taller than any music pages I can find. I'd thought about layering, but never took the time to see how it would look. I see now that it looks just fine. Thanks!

Glad things are selling. It is fun, isn't it? 'Course the hunting and gathering is the best part.

Wow, that decoupaging really lightened up that cabinet and is wonderful to look at. Happy your booth is a success. Got to keep that merchandise moving so you have room for more!

You constantly amaze me! It's going to take years of sitting at your feet to learn this. That organizer thing? I would have loved that!
