3:00 Am Phone Call

Whenever the phone rings at 3 am you know it's not good.

So my phone rings at 3 am and I say out loud "oh no", and then answer it.

From the other end
"Mom... First I'm OK"
"Are you awake enough to have a conversation?" He knows me so well

"Of course" I say and I wait for the news.

I must mention here that my Son is in Hawaii for this job, due to return on Saturday.

"there's been an earthquake in Japan and there is a tsunami coming to Hawaii" "We will be fine we are on the 6th floor and on the other side of the island"

We have a short conversation about what is happening there, and I hear the sound of adrenalin in his voice. He updates me on all the news because I've been asleep and then we say our goodbye's not knowing really what will be happening, but I feel confident he will be safe.

He may be 25 and living on his own, but as his Mom you know
I'm gonna worry
.
Unable to go back to sleep I head downstairs to watch the news, and I check his facebook feed often. Texting every so often for updates. I'm glad to report he and his entire group are all fine.

Although Hawaii did not have a devastating Tsunami I am thankful that they are prepared for such things and have procedures in place. Allen will be returning home on time and all is well. He definitely has as story to tell now.

My heart aches for those in Japan, What a devastating quake and there are no words to express my sadness.

Hoping that the West coast and other areas will be safe from damaging waves, and I can't wait to hug my son's neck.

Here's a link to the news story about the group he is with. He is the Apache Belles, Drill team, Official photographer and was traveling with the drill team for a show in Hawaii (hard life I know).

They've had lots of prayers. I still get pray list emails from my former church, First Baptist Liberty City. The Warlicks who are members there, are with the Apache Belle group.

When I lived in Hawaii, we had a small earthquake and then we were threatened with a tsunami. Very scary stuff.

So glad that your son is okay. I have a friend who has a grandson in Japan and he is fine. THank God!!

I guess your son has a huge hug coming the next time you see him

My daughter lives on Maui. It was a looong morning. I know what you were feeling as a mother.I just felt like a mama hen who wanted to get her little chick and protect her under my wing. Silly me, God was already there!

So glad he is okay - and that he called to let you know he is okay! Doesn't matter how old they are or how long they have been on their own, mom worries! (I've got one living in NY at the moment and I'm happy he is doing what he wants - but it's killing me)
Hugs,

I would still worry too, if our roles were reversed. It's a mother's job, right? Thank goodness he's OK!

Thank goodness he knew HOW to start that 3am call 'first I'm OK'. What a sensible son. Glad he's OK, but join you in sorrow for the people of Japan. xx

I'm so glad to hear that Allen is home safe and sound. It's NEVER good to get those late night calls! The Lord was definitely watching over that group.

I'm horrified at what has happened in Japan, too. The lives of those who survived have changed forever. It will never be the same. I can only pray for them and be ever so thankful to God for the blessings that He has showered upon me and my family.

{{hugs}} from one mommy to another!
