Taking Better Product Photos with additional props. My 2c worth

I'm always looking for ways to improve my Etsy Store.

Lately I've been focusing on the way I stage my photos. I've changed backdrops and lighting in the past several times, but recently I've been adding props.

Not only is this making my photos better but I'm having fun too.

Which one would you be more likely to purchase??? it's a no brainer
After playing around with lots of options, I've decide it's best to keep it simple and add only one extra prop per photo.  Except with the phone photo below, I like the addition of the whole desk set up on the left.

A simple pair of American flags give this old sign some kick. But remember your proper flag etiquette when using these for photos.

I also like showing how an  item can be used. It's not enough that it's cool and unusual, it needs to function as well. I love this very unusual lap desk easel, but I can see how someone might need some help to figure out how to make it useful.

Again, Which one tool carrier would you be more like to purchase???

I think I'm getting better at this

Below is one of my  favorites. I'm sure this lovely chopper will sell now, and look how the tray behind just makes it pop!!

If you do this in your store remember to make it clear that only the item in the title is part of the listing, and don't over do it with too many extra props, That take the focus away from the item you are wanting to sell.
Also use items that are available in your shop. You never know someone might just start poking around looking for the other item too. I had someone buy everything I had in a picnic photo one time. She wanted the whole thing for a party.

Enjoy.

Suggestions on how to use a product is a wonderful idea since some people don't have that "think outside the box" way of looking at things. I look at cool things on my haunts and can imagine how to use them, but friends do not think the way I do...
