Bachman's Fall Idea House

The Bachman's Idea house is just next to the Bachman's Flagship store in Minneapolis. Ki has been under contract with Bachman's for about a year now consulting with them about including vintage "junk" in their home decor department. In addition to this she has consulted on the Idea House. They have changed up the design for each season, and will be unveiling their Holiday House
in November.

Outside you are greeted by this beautiful Gazebo made from vintage chippy columns.
In the potting shed, there are lots of junk re-purposed items

Inside I was greeted by several other visitors from the bonanza and we posed for this picture. Pictured are Linda & Diane "The Barn Chicks" and Missy, Cassie, Andrea, & Lynette of Junk-Fest, and Tamara of Shabby vintage Junk.

Each room had a lot of great ideas for reusing "junk"

You could definitely see Ki's signature style in this house.

Love the wall art, and the lamp

What else would you use a tractor seat for, huh????

Loved this media room, numbers, globes and crates Oh my!

Extra rolls are handy :)

Great towel holders
This is only a small sampling of the projects in every room of this house. And the fun thing is, these projects are something everyone could do and it doesn't look kitschy.

As we were leaving, our new friends asked us to join them for lunch in the
Bachman's Bistro. Yes you can shop and EAT here, no need to leave.

We really enjoyed visiting and exchanging tips and stories. Can't wait to meet up again girls.

More Bonanza pics next post.
If you just can't wait, then hop over to the Junk Bonanza Blog. Jill is compiling a list of all bloggers who are talking about their JB trip.

Junk Bonanza Day 2

Day 2 started with a tour of the Bachman's idea house, (above a great clock in the Backman house) where we met several other bloggers including Junk Fest Girls Junk-fest.blogspot.com, and 2 other wonderful gals who don't have a blog and I'll get their names later (I'm disjointed as I'm not at my home computer and my cards are all over the place, I'll try to get it all together when i get home). We all decided to have lunch at Bachman's wonderful little bistro and we had a great time visiting, chatting about junk and comparing business tips.

Then Tamara and I spent several hours researching international shipping options, buying boxes and packing materials and then we were off to the bonanza for some power shopping, where I picked up a few more smaller items.

After the Bonanza Jill had arranged a great Blog Party at Dunns Bros coffee house and we visited into the night and I met some great people, which I will sort out and share with you later. It was all great fun.
Here's a little sneak peak at my goodies. Tamara and I spent the late evening packing our stuff. I had only 1 box full, she has 2 plus several tubes. She was up till 4:30 am wrapping and packing, This gal is meticulous, but her junk has a long way to travel. I remember her kissing her terrier as she packed him away and said," See you later".

Love the piece above for display of itty bitties. And I've got lots of smalls, Metal letters, vintage christmas, cloth calenders feed sacks, music scale (a whole package), cute checkered trays, and there is lots lots more.
Cant wait to get it all home and play with it.

Bachman's New Look-Junk Junk Junk

In January I was contacted by Bachman’s from Minnesota to take Larry Pfarr around North East Texas looking for junk. You see Ki Nassauer has been working with Bachman’s since October, getting them ready for their new look. Larry had a 3 day layover in Dallas after the January Market Show and Ki set us up for some junking. I had fun getting to know Larry and wanted to share with you what Bachman’s is doing.
The italicized portions of this post are quote from Bachman's

For those who don’t know of Bachman’s, it is a retail floral store in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, Minnesota including Floral, Gift, and Garden Centers,

I was so excited to hear what Bachman’s was doing, I wanted to share it with you, but I was sworn to secrecy until now.

Ok Here’s the official 411 from Bachman's
After four months of non-stop work (literally day and night) we have debuted the new gift and home departments at our Lyndale store in South Minneapolis. Titled: Bachman's Gift and Home, A Surprising Mix of Vintage and New. The store is divided into five very distinct looks." says Larry Pfarr from Bachman's. The looks include: Cottage, City/Loft, Kids, Modern Country and Euro. Pfarr said, "After being open with the new look for just one weekend, it is hard at this point to tell which area is a customer favorite." As far as his favorite?"That would be like asking which of your children is your favorite. I like each area for totally different reasons. There really is something here for everybody", said Pfarr.
Now that their main store in Minneapolis is done, it's time to take the show on the road. During the next couple of weeks, their suburban stores in Eden Prairie and Plymouth will get the new look. The last three stores will be changed starting in late July.

Larry and Ki have traveled Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas. South Dakota and Florida. In their quest for quality decorator Junk (you know what I’m talking about)

This is Larry in January at one of the super secret locations scouting junk in NE Texas

Each room is about 40% vintage and 60% new except for the Kids area which is about 90% new, It's all blended perfectly together. Customers are enjoying the thrill of the hunt and find.

If one of these Bachman's stores is near you , you owe it to yourself to check it out. If not, then like me, we can drule all over our keyboards together and only wish. As for me I'll be checking in on them during the Bonanza next September.
