Lazy and lovin it.

I am so sorry that I have been neglecting you all, but I've been very lazy this week, and I'm lovin it. That said, I do have some recent finds, and projects to share with you.

On wednesday I had to see a lady about some junk, and boy was I not dissapointed. She had 2 out buildings, a garage, and a house full of great old stuff. Most of it was nicer antiques, but I did find some junky treasures mixed in.
I got this old top-less table and this great small shelf unit.

You all have to help me decide if I should paint this shelf or not.
here's a better pic.

I also picked up this great stick & ball trim piece

Then at a garage sale this morning I picked up this dresser and this wonderful old chalk board.

Last week I picked up this great old metal carrier, it was full of mostly plumbing parts but there were a few other treasures that were in there. It was $5.00 and I had to take it all.

As far as projects go, I'm making finials again, these were a big hit on ebay last spring/summer and I'm hoping they are again.

Now for all you northern climate-ers, Spring is springing here in NE Texas, and here are a few peaks at the early arrivals. Tyler is known for it's azaleas, and in a month they will be in full bloom all over town. In the mean time, I've got this group of early bloomers in my backyard. They greet me every February.

And the fringe flowers are ablaze

And what is this?

That is this summer's crop of Lantana, poking it's head up from it's winter sleep. I went out last week to cut all the dead stuff back and found it sprouting all over the place, so I just left it.
First Monday trades days is this weekend, but I'm not going. Gas is so expensive and I just don't NEED anything at this time, so I guess I'll sit this one out. For all of you going, have a great time. I'll try to post more often next week.

Finished projects

thank you to everyone who has posted regarding the magazine thing. I must say that it has been a goal of mine to get something, anything into a magazine. It's a great pat on the back, and I am excited.

I realized yesterday, that I no longer have any unfinished projects laying around. I just kept working on this and working on that, and now it's all done. It kinda feels good. Since I am not able to do a show that I thought I would be doing, I now have lots of stuff made, that I need to sell. So, I'm going to take a little break, until the inspiration hits me again. That doesn't mean I won't be doing projects, it just means I won't be frantic about it. I'll just do them as the inspiration hits me.
so here are a couple of my recently finished projects.

I finally found some baskets for this little cabinet

And finished up this shutter shelf unit.

I just love how these little faucet flowers turned out.

And this is what I did with my fire engine from the Red Shed girls.
I've also completed a few projects that I'll be posting on my web site as weekly projects, so you'll have to wait for those.
Now to get this house cleaned up.

Big news

Ok, as I promised here is my big news. You know I mentioned a Magazine opportunity awhile back. Well here's the whole story. I rec'd this email in January I've removed some specific information to keep the surprise.

"I just spoke with .... from Country Home Magazine and they are putting together a new page with reader's projects inspired by the magazine. I noticed... you recreated the ?????. If you are interested in forwarding a photo to them along with a short note about how you were inspired or whatever, there is a good chance they would run it in this April's magazine."

Well I got the photo to them, no easy task mind you, and I got this email on Friday.

"Yeah!!!! Your ... photo is running in April! I just got the confirmation from CH. I kinda thought it would be...but you just never know what can happen last minute."

So look for a robojunker project in the April issue of Country home. As stated above it is a copy of a project I saw in the magazine. I'm so excited.

Now for my weekend.
I had lots to do in the metroplex, but one of my main things was to stop by The Red Shed Girls sale, visit and of course, pick up some junk. I got to meet the 2 Michelle's and saw Valorie of course. I picked up this great rusty fire engine

Here is some more eye-candy from their sale.

I just loved their displays. That is something I really need to work on with my booth.

Here is Valorie working her little patootie off.
I'm so glad I was able to fit this into my weekend, it was fun to see other junkers succeeding at their first love, JUNK.

I'm Back

I just got back from my trip to the Metroplex. I was able to visit the red shed girls, visit with my bestest friend, get mmy hair done, and some shopping. I'm just too tired to tell you all about it right now.
Here's a pic to tide you over until tomorrow.

Never fear, the web page will be updated tomorrow as well as a new blog entry with some very exciting news.
Good night.

What I found in the trash

I took a different route today and boy am I glad I did. I found this great sign sticking out of someone's trash.

It went strait into my booth. I love it when I find great stuff that other people are throwing out.

I've finished my Flea market Bag.

The cabinet is painted, but I'm having trouble finding baskets that fit. I may just have to make something
The shelving unit is done too, I think.
I'm making progress.

The Red Shed Girls are having their Saturday sale in Grapevine this Saturday. I'm so excited that I will be able to attend and hopefully, bring you some pictures of their great stuff. Here's the information:

Projects in waiting, and Inspiration from Ki & Sue

I've got my hand in several projects lately. A few are not finished but I thought I'd share them with you anyway.

First I have this great cabinet I got for $20.00. My vision is paint either white or green, then distressed. Glass knobs and baskets in place of the missing drawers. I love the shape of this piece.

Next is an inspiration board I made from a divider in old luggage. After I'd done my projects with the pockets, this piece was just laying there. It spoke to me Friday night, and this is what I came up with.

Even the trim was a Garage Sale Find.

this month's Country Home magazine had this project by the JunkMasters, Ki & Sue. I loved it, it looked easy, I had the parts so I went out yesterday and did it.

since I was being inspired by Ki & Sue I got on their web site and started looking around their Store. they've got some great new stuff up there, and they had this decorated old military style bag. Well you know me, I don't like to pay for anything. My son had one hanging around the house that he was no longer using. I "borrowed" it and am in the process of transforming it.

It's pretty scraggley, even faded some from the sun.

I'm going to be adding this fabric to all flaps

and this hardware as embellishment
It's far from finished, but this is a project I can work on in front of the TV while watching Jane Austin tonight.
Here are a few more works in process

This shelf needs a back and some touch-up paint

I need to attach these boards to this shutter for a shutter shelf
And here's a sign I made awhile back

I used to say all it takes is Time and Money. With my projects money is not as big a deal as
energy. So all I need is Time and Energy. Where's the caffeine???

Happy Valentines Day to you all

I'm sending you all some roses, I hope you enjoy.

And I hope that you have a wonderful day with the ones you love.

I was able to hit an estate sale this morning and I picked up a box of fabric,
Just because it looked so vintage. When I showed it to the manager at Old City Mall, she informed me that they were feed or flour sack material. I think they are just wonderful, Take a look.

Just look at those wonderful graphics. I've listed these wonderful fabric lots on my ebay this week if you are interested.

Wednesday News

I just found out today that my friend Lorraine from "not your typical white trash" will be a fellow dealer at The Antique mall.

This is great news and I'm so excited to have here there, but there is one bad thing, I'll always be broke because I love her stuff. You can read about my adventure to her Klutter Sale here.
She has a great eye for Junk and I'm real excited to see what she brings.

If last week I was Manic, this week I'm very mellow. I'm not going 100mph, and just kinda taking it easy. No new projects, just doing more of some of my favs, trying to get ready for a arts & crafts Fair in a month. It will be my first time to do this kind of thing, and I'm a bit nervous. But when I found out my friend Vickie would also be selling her paintings out there, I felt much better about it. Now I've got someone to, metaphorically, hold my hand ;) and sit with my stuff when I have to go to the Bathroom. I've got my fingers crossed for success. (not with the bathroom, with my jewelry)

Just a little plug about my Ebay auctions this week. I've got a few broken china pieces on there as well as some wooden junk.

We are supposed to get some weather this weekend, so I don't know how much hunting and creating I'll be doing. I may just stay inside with some movies and a fire.
