This year's project-The Front Porch

I am truly blessed to have the front porch of my dreams. Literally, I have dreamed of a porch like this all my adult life.

Having always lived in ranch style homes, without much of a porch I've always longed for a country front porch. I feel I have that in this home.

It's only been 6 years since I painted the floor of the porch, but it truly needs it again. This time, I'll get the right kind of paint :)

With our East Texas Humidity, the ceiling of the porch has a lot of mildew discoloration, it will get a good coat of mildew resistant paint this year as well. I'd love to have a couple of ceiling fans out there and that is on my wish list.

I'm going to paint the rockers also, I'm thinking of black, because of the mildew issue.

I want to add a black cap piece to the railing,
Just like the one in the pic below on the left

I'd also like to fix up the landscaping in front of the railing.

Since it is starting to warm up around here I really need to start thinking seriously about this project. I want to get it done before it gets too hot, and Summer is coming.

What is on your Spring To-do list this year??

Love your front porch. It's a lot bigger than mine. I do have a ceiling fan though and I have to say it's been a great addition since it gets so hot here in Texas. Love the idea of the black topper on the railing.

My to-do list? Hmmmmm - where to start; we've been here 4 years and hardly done a thing since moving in. Yikes!

Hi Margo. I have a nice front porch, too, but not with the lovely country setting yours seems to have. I'm thinking of painting my front door black this spring...Not so cheerful or springy I guess, but I just love the color black and I think your rockers and railing top will look lovely if you paint them as planned. Enjoy your weekend!

That is a beautiful porch! We have mildew issues in places too, uhg. Can't wait for spring but just one hour south of us where two of our daughters are in college there was a blizzard last night and activities canceled. I know spring is near but..

Wonderful porch! We have mildew issues as well. I would very much like to get some painting done, though it'll be May before that will be a possibility. Enjoy your sprucing up!

I don't have a porch, so, I'm green of envy! I hope you accomplish everything you dream of.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Margo, just spent the day dealing with the mildew issue here in sunny Florida. A bleach and water mixture in a pressured sprayer works wonders. Lightly scrub, soak and rinse. I find this usually keeps the mildew away for awhile. Don't forget to wear your rubber gloves. My next project is to plant flowers in the flower pots. Good luck with your porch, it's beautiful.

Oh Margo I'm SPEECHLESS....(Well ALMOST)....Your porch is DIVINE my Friend....I can just imagine sitting out there late in the day as the sun goes down, boots up on the rail sipping an ice tea chatting about the Treasures found during the day....** Hint Hint ** ....hahahahahaha....!!

Yep I LOVE it & I reckon the black capping, BLACK chairs AND fans would just make it look SUPER AWESOME....!!

GO FO IT....!

Cheers,
Tamarah :o)
