It's Finished

of course I decided to paint it green (I really need to broaden my color palate). I replaced the knobs with glass ones, because 2 drawers had lost their knobs. I also did a little dry brushing of a cream color around the applique and on the legs, to bring out some of the details.

Main lesson learned: These drawer sets have 2 sides. They look the same except the side rails are different on one side than on the other. I actually mounted these backwards. If I'd mounted them right, the side rails would have a bit more detail. By the time I figured it out, I had decided it wasn't enough of a change to warrant de-construction.

I hope you liked this project. It was fairly easy. My DH routered the 2 pieces of wood that are the top and bottom. The rest of it was just nailed together, and then painted. The hardest part was finding the drawers. Here's a cost breakdown. Drawer sets $5.00 ea, Legs $2.00 ea, Glass knobs $1.00 ea, Paint-Left over-free, Top & bottom plates scrap wood, free, End result Priceless

Have a great day.
Margo

Update: Shortly after I made this post this morning I found out that my Grandmother (85) has passed away. Although I morn her passing, I KNOW she is Heaven bound. She was one of the first spiritual persons I met on this earth, and her faith was never wavering. You may not hear from me as much more this week due to family obligations.

I do send my sympathies for the passing of your precious grandmother - my prayer is rejoicing with you that she is walking with the Lord.

The cabinet turned out great! Such a neat way to use those old drawers.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You'll miss her terribly, but it is such a comfort to know how much fun she's having right now.

Margo, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I was very close to my Grandmother, and while I know she is with the Lord as well, I miss her very much.

Margo, I've visited your blog before, but wanted to let you know how much I love these. I do love anything sewing related. I have a set of those drawers, will have to do something with them.

I know you will miss your grandmother very much, but she has moved on to a much better place.

I'm so sorry to hear of your grandmother's passing. How comforting to know she is with the Lord.

You did an outstanding transition on your sewing drawers, just a fabulous table!

Please let us know where to purchase the glass knobs, my kitchen needs many!

And of course, you and your family are in my prayers.

Thanks to everyone on the condolences about my Grandmother. And thanks for the nice comments on the cabinet.

Cottage: I have a source for the knobs and the price is different each time I go in. He is hesitant to let go of too many. Just keep your eyes out, you may find some.

I also meant to tell you that during my show this past weekend, I only sold one piece of furn. and from the last two shows only small things seem to be selling!!

That sewing table is the cutest thing I have seen of yours! How did you attach the front center panel to the top and bottom wood? Did you nail or screw the drawer holders to the bottom wood? You are so lucky to have DH who has a router and is not afraid to use it!
