A Little Barn Beautification

This week I've been doing mostly finding, and not a lot of creating.
But DH and I were working on a project for our barn. this was his idea, but I was all on board with it. The Sad picture above is the before shot of our barn.

So now for the beautification part:
We started with some shutters
I measured them and then we went hunting for some old windows. We found them at our local re-store for a song and they were just right for the shutters

Then DH built a frame around each one

And then I got busy painting. I painted the frame white and touched up a little on the windows. Then I painted the shutters black. I also painted the backs of the window glass black, since these are faux windows. Here is the finished project.

DH had the barn painted in July and I love his color choice. I think these black shutters and white windows just pop out against the red backdrop. We still need to do some planting around the foundation but It's lookin good. I think he did a great job. Now I'm off to the nursery for some plants.

I love it! It looks so inviting.
The color with those windows really pops. Have fun planting.
Thanks again!!

It looks great, Margo! Judging from the "before" pic, it didn't look bad at all (better than ours!) but I love the re-do!

That is sooo sweet looking! I did the same thing along my garage with one window/shutters. Put a wire flower box underneath of it but never thought to spray the window panes black. Very cool. cherry
