"But I've been looking for one of these for a long time"

One of the running jokes in our house, when I buy something, is that I tend to say "I've been looking for one of these for a long time". It's always true. I've got these things in my mind that I've seen here or there and I'm keeping my eye out for one that is a good deal. Sometimes these things are in my head for a very long time. For example, in 1994 when I saw this picture in a Debbie Mumm quilting book

I thought I'd love to have one of those cabinet/desk things. So I've had my eye quietly looking out for one for the past, ummmm.....13 years. Well I finally found one for a good price. It was a bit dirty, so I brought it home, cleaned it up with mineral spirits, and tung oil and here it is.

It found a home in my crafting work space and fits just perfectly under the slanted ceiling. I love the original labels, and the lid lifts up too. I guess this is some sort of a desk as it has a place for an ink well and a pencil rest. I've accessorised it with some of my sewing collectibles.

Those drawers are very very deep and I'm sure I'll fill them with all sorts of necessary stuff. So I'm very very happy. And when DH saw it and gave me that look, I did say "I've been looking for one of these for a long time".

Now for my do-list. I am a list maker, but usually only when it all gets overwhelming. I have a Son graduating in June and of course there is prom before that. Mother's day is coming up and both Mother's are 2 hrs away. Stuff needs to be done for work, and home as well as the unusual jobs, so out came the paper and pen and a list was born.

Then I put days beside each job so I divide it up throughout the week. Once it is down on paper then I can just focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow. AS you can see some items are already crossed off. But I really need to get Alex's school days scrap book caught up (haven't worked on it since 7th grade). So I've drug out some of the stuff

and am getting ready to tackle it tonight.

If you don't hear from me for a few days it's because I'm busy with the other items on the list. And I'm not looking forward to grooming my Dog, or taking my car in for Brakes and Tires :(
See ya when I dig out from under all these chores.

That's a long time to wait but your patience has paid off big time. It's a wonderful piece and useful too.
I'm a list maker too. I just find it easier to focus if I have a lot of things to do.
Good luck on tackling your "to-do" list this week. :)

What a good find that chest was...even if you did have to wait 13 years.

It certainly sounds busy at your house over the next few weeks. A senior at your house so soon? Big doings for sure!

Margo, we are having similar months. My daughter graduates this month...we just got prom over with. Her scrapbook? Well, lets just say I've decided it would be really great to pin lots of photos up on the wall all around her letter jacket. I'm so far behind on the scrapbooks!

What a great little cabinet, Margo! Where did you find it? I'm betting it wasn't a curb shopped treasure :} Good luck with the list, & the prom & all the gazillions of things to be done...and enjoy all along the way. These times pass way too quickly...*elaine*

That chest is fab! Love it - I've been keeping an eye out for something similar but have yet to come across one.
Looks like things are going to busy for you for a bit. So much to do with seniors in the house.
I'm still waiting for us to get together for a trip to Mineola. Have a great week - and Happy Mother's Day!

You Rascal! I, too, have been looking for one of those but, as you know, finding one is a real task! Finding one in that shape is phenomenal!
