A Great way to clean your old Textiles and Linens

I was recently asked to review a Textile cleaning product for my readers. I eagerly awaited my sample and I had just the challenging piece to try it out on. I have inherited an old quilt from my Mother-in-law. It was yellowed from years of being stored in a smoky home, and it smelled just awful and had several dark spots. I got the package in the mail on Friday and went to work on this "hopeless cause".
Vintage Textile Soak packs a gentle punch to brighten up your old linens and quilts. I followed the instructions on the web site as well as the package. And what a beautiful package it is. Each 1# bag comes wrapped in a lovely cloth bag and tied with a sweet ribbon. We all love great packaging and this one is done nicely. It will look lovely just sitting in your laundry room waiting for it’s first use.

First I washed my quilt per the instructions, then I soaked it overnight in the product. I also threw in an old table runner as well to see how it did.
When I removed them in the morning I was amazed at how bright and white the quilt top was.

Above is before, Below is the same area after.

Before above, After below

I soaked these items for 12 hrs (overnight) I'm sure with a longer soak the spots would have faded even further.
There was no evidence that the colors in the quilt had faded in any way. All the years of smoke were gone and so was that awful smell. All evidence of spots on the runner were gone as well.
I would highly recommend this product if you’ve got old linens or quilts that need some sprucing up. You can order directly from their web site here.

I will occasionally be asked to review products for my readers. Please be assured that I will not recommend any product, store or service that I do not believe in. Any product you see me highlight, has passed the RoboJunker test, and has my seal of approval.

Merci!
With all the products on the market and false claims it is great that you test for us!
Can't wait to try it!

Thanks! I have some antique tablecloths and napkins I inherited from a great aunt and they are yellowed from age. I can't wait to see what this can do for them.

I may just have to have some of that stuff! Might get two so I can give one to my mother - she has some of my great-grandmother's things she was asking me about washing just the other day.
Thanks Margo!
