A new addition to the family, and a shopping Spree

I've taken a break from decorating to get back to regular life. Actually what is regular life anyway?

My DH and I have greyhounds. Actually we've had 3, each one at a time. We sorta have this "2 dog limit" rule and so we have the Greyhound, and we have a golden mix who is getting up in age a bit. But my DH is a soft heart, and while poking around on the Greyhounds Rescue site the other day, a certain older dog caught his eye. Her name is Szechuan and she is a senior rescue dog, age 12. I'm sure she was retired from racing many years ago but she must have been fast, because she's been a brood matron ever since. In case you don't know what a brood matron is, it's a breeder. The poor girl has had probably countless puppies in her many days, and for some reason ended up in Greyhound rescue. Don't know if she was abandoned, abused or what, but she arrived very thin and with worms. Well to make a long story short, she is now with us. We are fostering her permanently (because she probably won't be adopted due to her age). She's a beautiful white and red gal.

Yesterday she arrived and our whole day was taken up getting to know each other.
She's having to learn about stairs, and non carpet floors (long legs tend to slide, think bamby on the iced over pond) , as well as her place in our current canine pecking order. But today has been a bit more relaxed, with Greyhounds doing what they do best...sleeping. Yep I said sleeping, this is probably the most laid back calm breed you'll ever know. Lovingly called the 45 mph couch potato.

DH and I decided to work out our schedules today where he was home in the morning and I was home in the afternoon. There is nothing really unusual about this, as he works at home most mornings anyway. But today, it was scheduled that way. But..... on my way home I thought I'd swing into the Goodwill and see what Christmas goodies they had. OMG!!!! I went looking for glass balls and boy did I find them.

I just kept grabbing anything that looked old, I'll bet I was there for an hour. The check out gal said "how many trees are you decorating?" I just smiled, and said "they're for projects", and a brief description to satisfy her curiosity. On Thursday evening I'm taking a class and will hopefully have a fun project for you when I'm done, so stay tuned.
But when I did get home, the dogs were all fine, having slept through their time alone, and were very eager to follow me from room to room as I unloaded my goodies from my car.

Be sure to check out my home page to see the new fun Christmas projects this week.
If you'll be ordering a Calendar, you might want to get on it, or tell your loved ones, to order before I'm out.
See my side bar for ordering info.
I did place another order, but when they are gone, they will be gone. Also be sure to check out my store and see if there is anything you'd like, I've got lots of fun stuff, free shipping on most Jewelry.
Woo Hoo-It's Christmas-time.

You're doing such good work to foster a Greyhound. We have neighbors who adopt them and what an elegant dog. I didn't know that they love to sleep so much.

Enjoy the season!

Good for you adopting such a lovely dog. If my hubby were not allergic, we would have a greyhound. You're so right about the sleeping...I've known a few and so far each one has been a couch potato. Such sweet dogs.

Hi Margo,so sweet of you and hubby to take in your new addition. She looks like a real Sweety pie! I must say you really hit the jack pot on those Christmas balls. I love going to look at the thrift shops for decorations, they are so much more interesting than the new stuff. Can't wait to see what you do with them. Have a blessed week!

Blessings,Shelley

I'm loving all those vintage Christmas ornaments!! And if I didn't know any better, I'd swear my choc. lab was a greyhound as much as he lays around! And Margo, I want to thank you for writing to your blog so frequently! It's my morning ritual with my coffee to read the blogs and yours is always first on my list! Thank you!
