Office Progress

Today I was able to do a few things in my office re-do. One of the first things I did was to get rid of anything flowery, cottagy or pink. Then I got these binders, all the same, with a clear pouch on them. I made simple binder labels out of colored paper, in 2 alternating colors. I'm liking the tidier look of this.

The next thing I did was to make this clip note center out of an old yard stick, and some silver binder clips.

Yep that is a typewriter. I fill out lots of forms and it's much easier for me to type them out than to write them, and I can't feed them through a printer. Even a modern office should have at least 1 typewriter.

Accessorized my shelf with some vintage office products and other vintage items.
That is an insert from an old secretary holding envelopes, labels, post-its etc.
There are even 2 little drawers on it.

And hung up an old store display for shipping supplies

added Some sleek metal organizers. I added some of my metal finds to dress these up, and of course pretty folders.

Then I added this metal strapping tape to the fronts of some of the shelves. I've got to add more, but this is a start. and I put up more silver clips for "must not forget" items.

That metal strapping works with magnet clips, which will come in handy for more notes.
I hung some old cistern buckets up for pens etc next to my computer, and of course I'll be using locker baskets, and more wire office baskets.

I really like the idea of changing out my cork bulletin board for a grouping of clip boards. got them today, will hang them up tomorrow.

I cannot paint the file cabinets, so they will stay as they are.

I may paint the Gear wall. My color scheme is of course black/white/metal. Beyond that, is a sage green, and a goldish yellow that you see in some of the accessories there.

More to come.

So many neat ideas! Love the metal stripping with magnets, never would have thought of that.

I am envious over here!!! My desk looks like a tornado hit it (repeatedly!)and so I'm living vicariously through your space!!! I was thinking about you and your filing cabinets last night (and since you can't paint them!) here is an idea for you! Sign Shops have magnetic material (we get it by the roll!) and it's 24" wide...you could adhere vintage wall paper, shelf lining or anything interesting that catches your eye to it, then slap it on the visible sides! I know, i know...lots of work!!! But SO worth it! Keep the posts coming - I love your space!!!

I love the mix of old and new and the renewed-use of items. Reminder: keep magnets away from the computer. They can erase or mess with the hard drive. Keep the great ideas coming!

Looks like great fun! My son had snakes as a kid, I'm still not too fond of them though. I saw your slide of you. I had to laugh, although you are 5 years my junior, I think I had the same pair of plaid pants in the 70's and the same hat when I got married in 1982!
I enjoy your blog and website!
