Spring Projects

As I said in the last post. DH was gone all last week, and I had lots of time on my hands. So some crazy projects crept into my brain. The first one is this bed spring project. I've shown these springs before, they have these great hooks on them. I decided to hook them onto an old rusty bucket I use as a planter and add some candles.

Those are just regular votive cups, they fit right in there. I kind alike this project.

The next one is a bit strange, and I'm not sure how I feel about it now that I've made it. When I took the bed apart I had all these little springs that connected the larger springs. I decided to try and make some kind of wreath out of them. I just wired these onto an old hoop I had. It's a small wreath about 10" dia. I think it needs a little something more though. Any ideas???

Well those are my 2 Spring Projects, fooled ya huh? You thought I meant Spring, as in April showers, May flowers Spring.

I think, (if there is a way of doing it and hiding the wiring) adding white/clear strand of Christmas lights to the wreath would be super cute.

I love it just the way it is!! I'm addicted to your site and just found it on Sunday! Thanks for the inspiration - now I'm going to dismantle the mattress in my "shed".

I love the wreath. How about continuing what you got going by adding more colored faucet handles for "flowers" and painged hinges for "butterflys"? Great re-creating!

I love your wreath! Maybe add a "bow"...rusty wire or a bigger hinge. Jan

The wreath is great. I like everybody's suggestions for what more you can do with it.

I have a bucket full of bedsprings myself that my husband salvaged for me. He surprises me that way sometimes.

Love the idea using them for candle holders! I'm trying it when I get home this evening.

And the wreath is cool too. Not sure what else you could add to it though.

Thanks for your ideas!

I think a small "HAPPY SPRING" of "ThINK SPRING" sign on the wreath would empahasize the SPRING humor for any non-junkers that might knock at your door.

Oh - love them both! What about using the spring-wreath-thingy for a photo holder? You could change out the photos to fit the season, celebration, whatever! Love the idea that another commenter had about the painted faucet handle flowers as well - have fun!

PS- you are now in my list of "faves" :-)

Too cute Margo! Those springs you used for the wreath reminds me of curly hair....didn't you or someone use them on a pumpkin last year for hair? Love your blog!

Great Idea Margo, with the left over parts from the bed springs, I have been saving a box full of springs just like this for years because the color of them is turq and I just couldn't bear to discard them. My husbana has tried multiple times to get rid of them, now I can tell him I finally discovered a use for them, super cute!!!

Both projects are wonderful - the glow of the candles on the planter in the evenings will be so relaxing - need a couple of those for my porch! As for the spring wreath, all I would add is more of the faucet 'flowers' and glue old vintage marbles to their centers for a touch of color.
