Fun finds and the benefit of tendons

I found a great sale this morning, got lots of great stuff, pictures will follow, but that's not the story of note today.

As I was loading my car with my treasures, walking briskly up a small hill to get the 2nd load, I feel a pop in my calf, I can't remember if I heard it, but I definitely felt it. It really hurt, my first thought was "did I break my leg" then I quickly realized it wasn't the bone, but in the muscle. I tried to shake it off and continued loading my car with a limp. The guy even asked if I was OK. I tried to continue going to sales, and I did hit one other, but after that I realized that I was truly hurt.

When I got into the office, I was able to take a look at the leg and saw a huge bump on the top side, opposite the calf. At that point I decided to call the doctor, and a visit quickly followed. It appears I have a torn muscle or tendon or something. He told me but he told me lots of stuff and I don't remember it all. The short story is, I hurt myself, and will be off my feet for a few days and not fully healed for a few weeks. If I want to heal faster I will stay off of it. Yuck, that really slows me down. I don't slow down well :(
But I know if i want to be back to normal faster, I'll listen to the Doctors. Luckilly the Achilles was not involved. The pop was the scariest part, but fairly common with this injury.
So the RoboJunker, needs a roboleg for awhile. Too bad no such thing exists, and I'll simply have to endure it. In the mean time I've got some pics of the great stuff that I found before the POP.

It was a great sale, It looked like lots and lots of old junk had just been airdropped onto this guys lawn.
I got this whole box of old baby shoes.

Frames, a flag, stamp holder, lamp shade,

Box of hinge hardware

This great desk top organizer, A Giant W, Coke sign, rusty metal wire basket.

So the day is not a complete loss.

I was supposed to help a friend with her sale today, but have had to back out. I hate doing that to her. But I've said I will try tomorrow and all I can do is sit. So it looks like I'll be a ticket writer and money taker. If you are a local be sure to Stop by Anita's sale tomorrow
Nita's cottage is off of hwy 64, about 11 miles outside the loop out towards Lake Tyler East. Turn left at
(FM # 2607) after you pass over the Lake Tyler Bridge. Go 1 mile, north on 2607, follow signs to the sale. It's worth the drive for sure. Sat 8:00am - ?.

See a prior post about her sales here. She's got lots more stuff now.

I saw George Clooney on a talk show once - he'd torn his Achilles tendon, and said he cried like a little girl. Thank goodness you didn't involve that part of the robo-anatomy -it sounds bad enough as it is.

And that box of baby shoes is too wonderful!!!

Take care & let yourself be waited on!

My leg hurts just thinking about the snap.

You need to find a little scooter you can sit on and move w/your feet, or rent a motorized although they are not as easy to maneuver.

Take care

Margo--I am so sorry you hurt yourself. Junking is hard work, huh? I thought you were going to say you snapped your achiles (sp?) tendon, which I have heard is horrible. Rent some good movies, grab a book and take a forced vacation!

With all the great junk that guy had, there wasn't a bionic leg laying around? Maybe you could put a roller skate on that leg and kind of wheel it around! I bet you find a way to not let it keep you down very long. But really, take care and let it heal...the junk will be waiting.

So sorry you will be out of commission for a while. I know that's hard to do. I have a friend that is looking for a W. I'll show it to her and get back to you.

Well, I guess those alcohol swabs I sent won't do much for that tendon! More importantly, give it rest to prevent further injury.

NOBODY around here ever gets rid of those big letters. *sigh*...maybe when I get to Texas and take advantage of your hospitality! LOL.
Hugs,
Sher
