Let's Get Real

I just received one of the many home decorating catalogs that come to me in the mail. I enjoy looking through these catalogs, but common folks, Let's Get Real.
Take these fun framed prints for our first example.

Is anyone really paying 40.00 ea for these. Just enlarge an old flash card on a color copier and frame them in Target black frames, for a fraction, A FRACTION of that cost.
And now on to this item, I love this shelf, but really...

$189!!!!! You've got to be kidding.
And finally, one of my favs these lamps

Based on vintage trouble lights,$139.00 oh but wait, if you get more than one they are only $129.00 ea

I know I'm being cynical, but I just can't fathom paying those prices. I'll continue to browse the catalog, but for ideas only. And I have a sneaky suspicion, they are browsing our blogs for ideas too. But once it's Made in China, it looses it's lustre
IMHO.

OK, Rant over, now for some Real Stuff that is affordable.
I found lots of fun things last weekend, and sold some stuff to so I had to fluff up the booth again.

some very old lamp shades

This is a cute little mosaic bird house I found, great blues and yellows
and some metal architectural pieces

Some reproduction prim stuff

2 cute french-ish chalkware shelves and lawn tools

A customer decided this was a good way to display the gears, and so I left it.

and in case you like the trouble light idea, I've got 2 on ebay this week.

Movie Review Movie Review
Tonight my family and I went to see the new Star Trek movie. If you've ever seen any of the Star Trek Series, or movies, you'll love this. Its full of humor, great continuity in the story, and lots of action. It's not a chick flick, but I'm a bit of a sci-fi geek and found it absolutely entertaining, worth ever bit of the $8 admission. There is a bit of language and some mild sexual scenes, no full nudity that I can remember. It was a great movie.

The old lamp shades are great! And the gears do look good like that. Indeed, those prices are outrageous. Thank goodness, we find junk like that in dirty, dusty garages and pay $1! ~Mindy

Thanks for the movie tip. Yup, I absolutely agree with you...the prices for almost everything are so over the top that it's ridiculous. Just look at it for inspiration or don't bother because you have plenty of inspiration on your own. That's cute that a customer rearranged your display. It does look good that way.
