Junk Yard

I've come to the conclusion that my readers don't comment. I get about 300 hits a day on this blog, and only 5 or 6 comments. I'm so jealous of those gals who get 30 comments or even 15 when they post. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I guess I'll just keep on doing it. Hint---I'm asking you to comment ;) LMK what you think of my blog, what I could do better, what you like to see, what you don't like to see.
Do I inform, Do I inspire? Do I bore you? LMK, I thrive on feedback.

Since everything is growing like wild right now, Lots of humidity, rain (Praise God) and warm days and nights, is giving us here in zone 8, wonderful gardens. (It feels like a rain forest out there).

These are shots of my Junk Yard, just a small area near my barn, that I like to plant seasonally and place my outdoor junk treasures.

This is my Coleus plant, I love these, they grow here from April until first freeze in November. If a section breaks off, just stick it in dirt, water it and it will grow.
Great shade plant, and beautiful foliage.

That sign was picked up last year at the Junk Bonanza, It's a temporary grave marker I think. It's metal, and has a glass cover. Would be great for photo's too. It says "Junk Yard".
Look at those elephant ears, they come back every year.
They are just about hiding that old toy fire engine behind.

This old bird bath, came with the house. I filled it with dirt, and there is a small chicken feeder behind there, planted with coleus, there are some begonias in there too.

This sun dial rests on an old street light turned upside down. Makes a great platter or plate holder.

Hope you are enjoying your outdoor junk too.

So glad ya'll have gotten rain. Even though it was a down pour in Athens on Saturday, we didn't receive any of the rain and we so need it. Pretty Junk Yard.

Wouldn't it be great if junk was like coleus and all we had to do was stick a piece of it in the ground and voila....more junk! Especially the stuff we find that we don't want to sell but know we have to!

What a nice tour of your garden and I like how you've utilized your love of junk in there.
So fun and it makes it really unique.

Margo, I love your blog and check it almost everyday. I'm disappointed when you don't have something new going on. But I must admit that I do miss your other site where you had lots of makeovers and new projects. Once a month is not enough! I do know that it's really hard to always have something to say, but keep up the good work!

I recently stumbled onto your site and really love it! Through your blog I have discovered many others and just wanted to say 'Thanks' I'm new to all of this (blogging) but I have loved 'junk' for years. I've been going to Canton since I was a kid ~ my grandparents had a farm there. I live in Georgetown now (but I still come to Canton regularly) and was glad to see you blog about the places in the Austin area that you visited. I'm curious ~ do you travel to all of the junk shows that you advertise on your site? And I gotta say that here in Georgetown we are hurting BAD for rain... so you can send some our way!! I'm hoping to stop by Winnie and Tulula's on my next visit to Canton. Take care, Kari

I love your blog and I read it all the time and have it subscribed in my Bloglines. I have lots of blogs I read, but for some reason I don't comment often and I don't know why, because comments are important and fun. You're doing a super job though, so keep it up! I guess some of us are just listening/reading. Ü

I'm a frequent visitor to your blog and love seeing all the cool junk you find. I'm envious of the booths that a lot of the junkers/antique dealers such as yourself have. We don't have anything like that where I live.
Love your barn too! :o)

Margo,
I'm guilty as charged! I too love your blog...but don't always comment. Seems I am always in a hurry and rushing off without letting you know how much I enjoy it. I will try to be a better visitor! I too am still trying to figure out what makes people comment...will let you know if I find the answer!
Peace,
Ki

Hi Margo - I think you have a great blog! I love to see what you've bought every weekend and then what you do with it! Right now I'm liking that coleus and always love seeing how your change that little area up for the seasons. I've never grown coleus, but I've sure had my eye on it this summer. I'm gonna get me some next spring! When are you going to be in Athens again?

Hey Margo! I love comments too and get so excited when I get them. But I'm really guilty about not commenting and it's because I always seem to be rushed for time. I'm making a resolution right now to take the time to comment... Maggie

Margo - Your site is one of my favorites. I look at it very often, but like alot of others, I just run through it. Your posts are short and sweet and always a learning or inspiring lesson. Just keep doing what you're doing and I'll try and comment more often! Susan

Margo, I know EXACTLY what you mean about 'blog comments envy'! I average 600 visitors a day and seldom get comments. Used to bother me 'a little', but I think people come to OUR blogs more for 'instruction' than, 'just to chat and catch up'.

When I look at my blog stats and see ALL the various reasons and items that folks have searched for and found answers to via my blog, I get a good sense of accomplishment.

And REALLY, if I did get as many comments as some blogs I read, I'd never get any work done! I'd feel obligated to respond to most of them . . . . and even to just READ them all takes so much time. And that's time away from junkin' and crattin'!

So, keep up the good work and KNOW that you are appreciated for who YOU are.
