Prayer Request

I don't usually do this but a friend of mine is struggling with cancer and I feel the need to share her story and ask you all for prayers.

Michelle T, wife and homeschooling Mom , with 2 daughters, ages approx 18 & 8. Was recently diagnosed with Melanoma in her lungs after a volunteer scan while at work revealed a spot in her lungs. You see Michelle works at a radiologist office, and they had installed a new machine. She volunteered to test the machine, and the results were puzzling. At first they thought they'd mis-calibrated it. But no, she had melanoma in multiple locations.

A PET scan revealed one spot in her liver and on two lymph nodes along with the larger one in her lungs.

She has been doing some treatments that have not been effective, and this is the latest update from her facebook page

10/30/2009 Well we made it home from Houston safe and sound. Thank you Lord! Driving home in the storms was not fun at all.
We met with the doctor and the news we received was not what we wanted to hear. This horrible disease has spread pretty much throughout my body, including one lesion in the brain. I tell you this only to let you know that we are prepared to fight this battle! In no way are we giving in to this disease. Our God is the almighty physician and we trust in him fully!
Our first step is to get this brain lesion taken care of. I will be contacting a neurosurgeon today and hopefully we can get this done quickly.
The next step is to go back to Houston in a couple of weeks and discuss options. Unfortunately the trial that I have been waiting on for so long will no longer be an option. One of the exclusions is metastasis to the brain. While that is very disappointing, I have to believe that God has a plan. (and his plan is perfect)

"If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
Happy moments, praise God
Difficult moments,seek God
Quiet moments,worship God
Painful moments,trust God
Every moment, thank God"

Pastor Adrian Rogers

This family is as faithful and God loving as you can get. Please if you feel lead, lift Michelle and her family up in your prayers today. We are specifically praying for medical guidance, effective treatment and full Healing.

Bless you,
Margo

Frames

I love using frames when decorating, but I feel like my love of the diversity of empty frames is going un-noticed. I recently did the display above at my Antique Booth, to try and show how empty wooden frames can be used in your home decor.
They are plentiful, usually cheap (if found at garage sales) and beautiful.

Here are some other ways I've used empty frames in my home.

Above is a frame collage I made by hanging old frames from a quilt rack from rope.
I used the round grates to add geometrical interest.

Below, I have a grouping of frames with various found objects inside them. This display is above the couch in our family room.

Also in the family room, some unusual shaped frames hold a large 1/2 cut spindle

This frame is part of a bigger display. It looks as if the old ceiling tin pieces are trying to escape the "box".

How about framing a collection, to give it unity

In my guest room, I framed an old spring set from a chair to make a display board, and on the right, I layered 2 frames and hung an open book inside.

Below, I framed some old lace, and use this to store and display my earrings

The mantle below is decorated with various old frames

What do I look for in a frame? First it must be wood. Then I look at shape and condition. I like unusual shapes, and carved details. Lastly is price, I'm cheap and I like my junk to be cheap too. Remember, if the color is off, a little paint will take care of that. If some of the jesso is chipped, all-the-better.
Signs of age add character

I have a whole page of frame ideas on my web site here.

Iron Feet

I'm continuing with my posts showing items that I found on my great junk hunt recently.
Today I'm featuring this great lot of iron feet. These had many uses, and come off of many different items. I only have 1 complete set of 4, and they are pretty plain,

but they are available for $5. The other's will be sold individually for $4 each. There are many double sets here, and a few lone straglers. What can you do with these you ask? I've been know to add decorative feet to the front of things, and use my more plain feet in the back. So a pair of these would be great for any project you need to lift a bit off the floor. What about a plant stand, or foot stool?
Could they possibly be angled to hold a shelf up on the wall, or at least look like they are holding the shelf up?
Reader idea from Cat: Bookends! great idea. thanks Cat.

I love the detailing on most of these, very elegant.

I'm taking all these items to my booth on Thursday.

The Trophy tops have been real popular and I still have a few left. Remember they are the old style, metal.
Just think of all the projects you could do with the lamp parts. I'm thinking wind chimes, totems, or even make a lamp.
So be sure to Email Me
if you are interested in any of this stuff

And since we are entering the holiday season.
The project below is great for the holidays.

The most frequently asked question I receive is for directions on how to make these Swags and wreaths. I now offer complete instructions,
with full color pictures and a list of glues to use, all for only $8.00.
Simply click the buy now button below, and I'll send you the link to the instructions, you don't even have to wait for the mail.
You can print them right from your computer and get started. Note: it may take a few hours for me to be
aware of your payment. I check several times per day, and as soon as I see the payment, I'll send the instructions.

I have lots more e-book instructions available.

Ok all you totem makers out there, have I got something for you.

Lots and lots of glass lamp sections. These sections would be stacked to make lamp bases. They all have holes on both sides for a rod to go through. They'd be great for all kinds of projects. Prices run from $2-$4 depending on size.

I also have these great metal stencils, they are pretty big, about 6" tall. Many are red on 1 side, and brass on the other.
