I woke up this morning to the sound of ... nothing. It's very weird when everything goes silent. I sleep with a fan and no fan, no heater, nothing but whining dogs.
It comes back on just long enough for me to dry my bangs and then boom, off again.
I put my hair up in a pony tail, and put my makeup on by window light and
I head in to work. After getting a little bit done, it goes off there, then on and then off again. Turns out my area is part of a rolling blackout program to conserve electricity.
Rumor has it, that it is because of the Super Bowl this weekend (I'm 2 hrs east of the stadium). I don't know if this is true or not but it's worth putting out there.
So if you don't hear from me for a few days, this is why.
Now I'm headed back home, to see if we have power, and get our wood stove started up.
Stay warm,
Margo

This is not a good thing Margo, you are too far from Dallas for this to happen?
Stay warm. No black outs her in my neighborhood with APS though SRP did do the same thing U R talking about last night. Funny how they don't tell anyone they will be doing this. Hugs.
Oh Margo...I sleep with a fan on too and the minute the power goes out, I'm up because it's soooo quiet.
Good luck with the power...I know how you feel.

Hope you go home to electricity. We really never realize how much we use it until it is out. I use a fan to sleep at night too. All my friends think I am strange but I love it. Glad I am not the only one:)

I am west of Houston about an hour and we are having the same thing happen here. It seems to be statewide! Love your blog and your Junk!! Stay warm!
We are about 20 minutes from the Super Bowl and I really
haven't heard that but hmmmm
that is an interesting one ~
We have had black outs too all
day!
I heard that the stadium isn't going to have to have black outs ~ Isn't that ironic ?

Wasn't it crazy? I heard they may start again later. I'm in Ft. Worth. News here said that they didn't black out the stadium but they did ask them to conserve where possible. The players' hotels were part of the blackouts too. Ours went off 3-4 times. Stay warm! It should be 50 and sunny on Saturday so we're hoping we can have a little fun in Canton.
Aughhh...as if the cold isn't enough now Oncor is doing rolling blackouts. My office was so cold today because the heat kept going off - I sat with my coat and gloves on all day. Spellcheck couldn't save me with those gloves on!
Hope you are well and warm.
Jennie
Glad the stadium isn't near us. It was -8 this morning with -25 wind chill. Sure wouldn't want to loose heat.
Hope it's not too cold in your neck of the woods.

Cozy up and stay warm! This winter has been something else! Hopefully your power outage isn't due to the Super bowl or who knows what will happen on Sunday.
I just hate to hear how all of you are suffering......45 and sunny here in the Pacific N.W. :)
Love your blog and your "JUNK"..
Rolling black outs?? Yikes! Is this the wave of our future?? I sure hope not! That would suck for sure!!
Hope your black outs cease and desist...quickly!!
Hugs

This is crazy...good luck!!
What I don't understand is if they're "rolling" why do the same areas keep going dark? We've had 6 in a just about the same amount of time. The stadium is exempt because "ahem" security concerns! Yeah and I bet the fact that it uses as much power as a small city has nothing at all to do with it.
Debbie
P.S. The funny thing is all the roads leading around and into the stadium were cleared Tuesday, but the areas around me didn't get really started on until yesterday afternoon.
