Recently I was at a garage sale, that I just happened upon and I spied this beauty. At the time it was painted solid off white and I could see the paint was peeling. Not wanting a project, I passed it up. Then back to it... then walked away again... then back for another look. At that time the owner said, "it's your for a $1". I looked at her... looked at my car (to see if it'd fit)... and said "sold".
Under that peeling paint I could see a beautiful aqua color and I thought that I could just scrape off a bit and make it look really chippy. Well some scraped off easily and other areas not so much. So I brought out the chemicals, the scrapers and the power washer and got to work. Then It got really hot outside so there it sat, stowed beside the barn, getting buried in pine needles.
I really did not know what I was going to do with it but finally last week, I decided to put it in my creative room. You see that color of blue/green matches my walls perfectly, and I also decided not to scrape any more, and just hang it as is, After all Shabby is not about perfection.
After a quick clean up of the pine needles and dirt I finally got it hung, with some help from the muscles from Mr Roboto. This thing is heavy.
For now I just accessorized it with what I had laying around in my workroom,

I added 5 hooks for various bobbles.
I think I'm gonna like my $1 shelf.

Aqua green/blue - same color was in our farmhouse. on the trim and on the brick fireplace. I left some of it to show - great find, Margo!
1$ that is almost as good as Free!! Love it! Great Find! =)
She's a real beauty!
I find it funny that often, the items that don't wow us can, with a little love, become some of our favorite pieces! This shelf is great - lots of display and storage room and adding the hooks was a fabulous idea! Enjoy your $1 beauty! xo, Leena
Love it! So glad you brought it in from the pine needles by the barn and added the beauty to your craft room!

You must stay with the white rockers...it's a wedding! Depending on her colors, you can add pillows!
What a great find...love the size of it, too! I'll have to get my Mr. B. to make one for my studio, I just love it!
That's cute! I like your wall color, and the whole look of your room.
