Canton in July, I mean February

It is February in Texas, but today got up to the mid 80's. Still that's pretty comfortable with the wind blowing etc. I had the choice of going today or tomorrow, and decided to go today even though it will be a bit cooler tomorrow. But enough about the weather.
I didn't take a lot of pics, frankly because my camera was buried under all the stuff I got. I actually had to make a mid shopping run to the car, to unload.

I did manage to dig the camera out for some pics of the Veranda and Junk Palace.
Margaret and Lilly have great stuff. Margaret made these collages

It was so funny, a lady was in there asking "where do you get all the stuff to make these". I felt like saying, just walk around out there in the field, it's all there.

Margaret did a real good job on these, and they are stunning in person

I also love this old horse, stroller push toy thing. but is was a bit too rich for my blood. I think Margaret wants to keep it.

Here are some things I brought home. Car full-o-junk. Can't really see the forest for the trees. My poor car. See the back of the seats there. that's from hauling stuff around.

And I actually bought a piece of furniture. this old old child's desk is height adjustable

and has a little drawer. The top needs some finish work, but the lower parts are in great shape. There is even a little well so that pencils don't roll off the desk.

And here's your "whatsit", and truthfully I don't know the answer.
I know it is from the textile industry. It says Hickok on the sides. It has a roller on the bottom and a place for one on the top, and these little wood pieces that poke outwards. Any ideas?????

I'm sure I'll share some better pictures of my finds in the days to come. Some may even show up on my Weekend Online Garage Sale.
I will post garage sale items on Saturday this week instead of Sunday, so look for them early.

This little on-line garage sale thing is catching on. I'll have 2 other spots for you to shop from 2 other bloggers who are also having online sales.

Barn Shoes

These are my Barn Shoes, Stay with me here.

What makes them special and perfectly suited for Barn Work?
Well first they are slip on, second they are dirty already, and now they have the added distinction of being very "holy"

You see my barn floor is dirt, and these shoes slip on and off easily, and never make it far inside the house before they are off. They are always beside the door, waiting for me so I can make a mad dash to the barn for whatever reason and not have to hunt for a pair of shoes. They also work well for mowing and yard work, except for the fact that dirt gets inside now that they have sprouted the holes. Yep these are my Barn Shoes, and they are proud of their lot in life.

Now that I've gotten all poetical like over my shoes, I'll share a project.
Remember all those piano keys I got, well after asking around on various message boards for ideas, Starburst, seemed to be the most common suggestion and so that is what I did.

You can't really tell it from the pic, but the black keys are actually sitting on top of the white keys. I put an old carriage wheel in the center to hide some of the uglies. One person suggested a cymbal, or tamboreen instead, so I'm on the look out for one at this week's First Monday Sale.

It's pretty big and I don't really know what I'll do with it. It will probably go into a sale soon.

And here is that dust pan painted red, and all ready for Christmas Cards... in 10 months.... Maybe I'll use it as a wall pocket, in box at work until then. Or put some flowers in it for Spring.

And here is last weeks big find

it's some sort of western lamp. It needs work, and I think I'd like to sell it as is.

It was a bargain that I couldn't pass up. It's a big honkin thing, meant to hang over some long dining table I'm sure. It's missing one of the faux candles, and some of the metal parts are bent, but I'm sure it could be fixed by someone who knows what they are doing. The hardware alone is magnificent.

Sunday Garage Sales are going real well. I may just dump ebay for this instead. Watch for more offerings next Sunday Morning.

Have a great week.

Some recent finds

I've been doing a lot of shopping lately.
And I've had some wonderful finds, big and small. Some I'm keeping for myself. I've had several inquiries on these items, and please note that I am keeping these items, unless stated otherrise.:) So I thought I'd share a few of the smaller items that I'm keeping, with you today.

I'm a sucker for old office supplies. This Kalkometer, is a great old manual calculator. Not sure how it works though. My mother had one in her collection once and showed me how it works. I need to ask her about it. I love the graphics onit.

I also love old textile antiques. These are 2 great old spools of "elastic web". They are empty, but I loved the graphics, and the metal holders attached.

I found these at Our Little Corner last week. a pair of santos hands,
which I am keeping.

This was a splurge. It's a large key shaped sign. I made a holder for it and put it on top of a book case. I love old signage, especially in black & white. I also love over-sized objects. and this is definitely an over-sized key.

Lastly is this cut cup & saucer. I just thought it was so pretty. I don't care that it's got a chip. Marked England on the bottom.

I've also been working on my booth this week. I re-did the whole back wall
I put up those 2 metal pieces that I found earlier in the week. I'm going for a "garden" theme here. All items in the pictures below are for sale.

I don't know if any of my displays are Teresa worthy, but they are coming along.

And an old tackle box for my misc ephemera

Be sure to check out my Garage Sale tomorrow morning, and go over and check out Mindy's Sale today. She's got some great stuff over there this week.
have a great weekend.

What I got at Pandora's Box

Several of you are very interested in what I picked up at Pandora's Box (see post below) Well I got lots of goodies, but for the life of me, there is one item on my receipt that i can't remember what it was. I'm sure it will hit me soon, but here are the things I remember right now.

I got this great strange old hanger for my hanger collection. I have my hanger collection hanging in my laundry room. Isn't this the strangest hanger you've ever seen.

And this metal planter. It's broken, but I'll fix it, It was a real bargain

This old metal wreath holder. I love these old things. It was also a bargain

A Fan cage, and an old dust pan. I'm painting the dust pan red, for Christmas Cards.

And this is my favorite find. I think these are Hotel room door plates. They are about 2.5" across and enamel. You know how I love numbers. I will be selling 3 of these, and keeping 3. Number 111 is sold. The other 2 will be listed on Ebay.

And Today I went with a friend to one of her junk haunts. I got all of this.

I've got a project for the tackle box. The lady kept saying, don't you want one of those plastic ones, this one is just about rusted out. I told her I liked the rusted one. I also got these 2 great candelabras

This 5 arm chandalier

And 2 wonderful old iron pieces

Also in this load were some spice bottles, some china, misc metal pieces etc.
Now if I could just figure out what that one item was, It's really bugging me.
Be sure to go to Pandora's sale if you life in East Texas. See post below for details.

Pop over to Time Worn Interiors blog for a great 100th post give away.
