Spring has Sprung

Spring in East Texas can mean only 1 thing... Azaleas
You see Tyler is know for 2 flowers, Roses and Azaleas. We even have a section of downtown called The Azalea District. Azalea lined streets and houses in an older part of town. Everyone primps their yard every spring for the throng of tourists that drive the streets of the Azalea Trail and marvel at the beautiful bushes on fire with White, Pink, Red, and Purple blooms.
In my yard I've got my share of Azalea bushes Some are just now budding.

Some are in full bloom

so for the next month it's gonna look like bubble gum all over town, and I love it.
It's also pollen time, which means that cars, patio furniture, and everything outside is covered in this fine yellow dust. If you wash it off, You'll have a new coat of the stuff in the morning.

And when it rains, it becomes a bright yellow mess :)
But after that we know it's time to power wash everything, and it all starts clean and new.
I was talking to one of my Son's yesterday, as we were sitting on my pollen covered porch and I said "wouldn't this make a great place for a wedding?"

"Yeah" he said, "if you got rid of all this junk". I just had to laugh, it is getting kinda junky up on the porch.

I guess there is such a thing as too much?????

I think when I do the annual power wash, I'll probably reduce some of the clutter I've got going on up here. It's time for a change.
But it would be a pretty place for a wedding. I'm just saying....

Oh, I must tell you that not all of us have primped and prettied up our yards. I am right smack dab in the middle of the main trail - half a block down the street from the big main houses on Lindsey & my yard is not even mowed due to a broken mower and no time & plenty of other excuses - all true. Plus we don't have any azaleas, and I don't think the yellow flowers atop the weeds will fool anyone. (We do have plenty of wisteria, though! LOL!) People will walk by our house this weekend and shake their heads & mutter not-nice things. I will have to hide indoors. Or - better yet!! - I will run out, camera in hand, and pretend to be a tourist myself, and mutter things about my own house. Yes, I am liking that idea!! LOL!

You are not kidding about the azaleas! They are something that everyone should see if they get the chance. That area of Tyler is just breathtaking with the azaleas, daffodils and brick streets. I just love it!
And yes, your porch would make a lovely setting for an outdoor wedding or event.

You forgot to mention the beautiful dogwood trees. There are little clouds of white throughout our woods where dogwoods are blooming. Bursts of pink thanks to the Red buds are scattered through the green too. I don't have any azaleas or roses. My thumb is black, but Mother Nature takes pity on me and has planted lots of volunteer blooming trees and bushes through our woods. Wild plums and black (dew?) berries are blooming also. sigh I just love spring!
