End of an Era, I'm moving out of Winnie & Tulula's end of June Deep discounts throughout space

It's been 4 wonderful years of fabulous items both sold and purchased, but the time has come for me to move out of Winnie & Tulula's in Athens Texas.
Today I cleared out many of my smalls, but there is still a lot left, all at 50% off.  Everything from rusty metal pieces to display pieces like this white piece below.
 Crates and trunks too
And this lovely yellow armoir would make a fabulous tv or media cabinet.  Or storage and display in your cottage room. Yes it's 50% off too.  Local pickup only, cash or check only. Credit cards are 45% off.
I'm moving it all out at the end of June so get it while you can.

The 27th and 28th is First Monday weekend and the last days of the sale. so travel just 20 mins down the highway 19 and you'll be at Winnie & Tulula's.  I'll be moving out on the 28th.

The Art of Display... Ha Ha Ha

I headed to Winnie & Tulula's today to reset my spaces, and boy did they need it. I also dropped off a few new items like these French architectural prints.

And Some new jewelry pieces
I'd like to say I put a lot of care and thought into my spaces. And although I do think through a few elements of the display some of it is just very "Make do" . Like leaning this fabulous mirror against this rack ...
Or using an old mop bucket to display spindles
Or an old mail box for yard sticks.
It all just sort of comes together.
Even if not well planned out. It really doesn't matter because customers don't put things back they way they were anyway :) and It'll be all willy-nilly next time I go in, and I'll have to start all over :)
But that's the fun part !

Saw this flag field on the way home and had to share.

Have a great weekend.

I've got Drawers

Last week I got out to Winnie & Tulula's to take down all the Christmas and re-fluff for the New year. I seem to have accumulated a lot of drawers. It's always fun to display things in groups and I decided to put them all together, for a "get organized" theme for the New Year.

And here is a fabulous find...
But it's just a portable card table you say...

Think again.

I thought that is what it was when I bought it, and was so surprised when I opened it up, to find a whole table and chairs.

Currently available on my Etsy store.

I'm going to take a short blogging break while I play catch-up from the Holidays.
But I'll be back, and remember the Spring issue of Flea Market Style will be available soon, hopefully.

Happy Thanksgiving and getting ready for Black Friday

As is the usual plan, Winnie & Tulula's is planning their big Christmas Open House for Friday. Since working tomorrow is out of the question, I headed up there today to fluff my spaces.
I wasn't the only one as you can see, there was lots of fluffing going on.

I wanted to show you a few things that I brought in. My philosophy of Christmas decorating is to "simply add glass balls in and around everything". Here's a close up of one of those great candy store displays I recently found, filled with, you guessed it...Glass balls. The other one is in my work room. I'll show you what I did with it in another post
I've got a couple of etched mirrors. They are hard to photograph but I think I got 2 good shots.
I really enjoy making these for the Holidays.
If you want to see more you'll have to come to the sale. Hope over to their blog for more info. Have a great Turkey day.

Some recent Finds

I've found a few fun pieces recently.
Love this speed limit sign, Under that it says No Skiing, How great for the Winter to come.
This trunk is metal, and it may not look like it from the picture, but it's a full sized trnk, Isn't it fabulous and look at those wire baskets on top...Perfectly chippy

I dropped these items off at Winnie & Tulula's today and was admiring the window displays. Look Candy Corn in a flower vase:)
Don't forget the sale this weekend in Whitehouse (just outside of Tyler)

This is a friend of mine and some of her friends who are having this sale. You don't want to miss this one.

My Table is Missing...

Someone Bought my display table, What's a girl to do?

When I got to Winnie & Tulula's today to re-fluff my booth spaces, I was pleasantly surprised to see a table gone... but then what to do?????

A quick look around offered me the solution. I took 3 bar stools and placed my old porch swing on top. Perfect!!!!

Festooned with card file drawers and vintage documents.
Just the change needed in my booth.

I'm off to Round Top for a few days. Will be meeting up with Tamara and also picking up a few things a Dealer is bringing to me from the Bonanza.

See you Monday. Have a great weekend.

Alison the Flower Girl Moves into Winnie & Tulula's

I just want to shout it from the roof tops, My good friend Alison of The Flower Girl has taken the plunge and moved into a space at Winnie & Tulula's.

Just a month ago, Alison was seriously considering getting out of the Antique business, and even sold off a lot of her inventory. But...As it would go, she's back in after the world's record shortest sabbatical in history.

Alison is a florist at heart and her booth space shows her love of the outdoors and garden.

It's a family affair and her very talented daughter is selling her artwork, and is available for commissions. Just look at the lovely little girl portrait below.

Stop by Winnie & Tulula's to see what's new, and check out Alison's space. You'll know it by the umbrellas.

Busy Busy week-and new friends

About 2 weeks ago I got an email from Diane. I had met Diane at the Junk bonanza in September and she was coming to Texas. She wanted to know about area shopping and mentioned that she'd be stopping to shop at First Monday in Canton. Of course I answered any questions she had, Mentioned Winnie & Tulula's as well as Canton and we arranged a meet up. She surprised me by stopping by WT when I was working my space Wednesday afternoon.

Diane is one of the Barn chicks and she and her friend have several sales a year out of a Barn in Minnesota. Wish they had a blog or a web site or something I could send you to, but they don't just yet, hint! hint!

She and I arranged a meet up for Thursday in Canton and I left her at about 4:00 to head home and get some

Now my day job is keeping me quite busy these days so I had to spend Thursday morning at work, but headed out as soon as I could, around noon for the Canton Flea Market.

My first stop was to the civic center to buy some doilies, lots and lots of doilies

Why do I need doilies? Well I'm helping a friend decorate for her wedding reception at the end of May, and Doilies are one of the items we need mass quantities of. The Lady that sells Linens out of these big carts is a great source in Canton when you need lots of something and don't mind digging.

These lovely ladies helped me look while they were looking. We had such fun.

Then I was off to shop for a couple of hours before meeting up with Diane.
After our meet up I didn't grab any more pics because, we were so busy hunting and finding and visiting that I just didn't think about it. But we had a great time, and I introduced her to some of my Canton Vendor buddies, and we found some great stuff. The weather couldn't have been nicer, and the crowds were minimal. great for shoppers, not so much for dealers. But March is usually a moderately attended month. Thanks Diane for the fun afternoon.

I've got a fun doily project and pics of my Canton finds later this week.

Have a great Sunday
Margo

Timely Window Display

January was my turn to decorate the large window at Winnie & Tulula's. I've learned that merchandising is not my gift, and I tend to dread this whenever it comes around to my turn.

Since the New Year is all based on time and 12:00 etc,
I requested January because of my love of clocks. Then I began to gather and gather and gather clocks. Since August I've been buying any and all, reasonably priced clocks I could get my hands on. And numbers and anything clock related.

It's hard to photograph through a window but I'll try to explain what you are looking at. First I attached lots of numbers and a few clock faces to about 5 or 6 lengths of ribbon and hung them from the ceiling of the space. It kinda looks like a clock number party is going on. Then I brought in every clock I could find and I displayed them on this metal ladder and one of those circular garden pot holders (see the left side). I had Gloria leave up the silver streamers from the prior months display as well as the "snow and glitter". To the right of the ladder I had a wall space so I hung vintage clock faces from ribbon at different heights.

It's a black and Silver Clock Explosion

I added a few pieces of clock jewelry and some letter balls with letters X I and V
for the roman numerals you see on clocks. More metal numbers litter the floor, like confetti. The letterpress letters spell TICK TOCK.
It looks lots better in person and I hope that it brings folks in.

Happy New Year Everyone
Just a Note, Winnie & Tulula's will be open New Years Eve if you are looking for somewhere to go.

Whew!!! 2 down 1 to go

The Gresham Christmas in the Country sale wrapped up today and it was a huge success.
The barn was practically empty when I left today at 5:30. Lots of furniture went on the last day, all the lockers are gone, and fun Christmas items went out the door one by one.

Next stop...Winnie & Tulula's Angels in America sale starting on Friday evening. Ya'll come on out for what is sure to be a great time.

Time to Fluff

Time to get back to fluffing my space at Winnie & Tulula's. It's been 3 weeks since I've been up there and It was in a sad sorry state. Stuff was strewn hither, thither, and yon.

I brought in new stuff from near (Canton) and far (Arkansas) and
even farther (Minnesota).

I even sold a piece that I've been wanting to move out while I was there.

Come on by and see what's new, not just in my space but in everyone's spaces.

Winnie & Tulula's
is the place to be.
