Goodbye Sweet Baby Girl

It's a sad but sure part of pet ownership. Saying goodbye.
Today I choose to remember when she was healthy, not the last few years of decline.
See you on the rainbow bridge...

Just stand at the gate and keep barking like you do, and St Peter is sure to let you in.

Thank you to everyone who has left comments. In my confusion, I accidentally deleted a couple of them, but I did read them first, I just hit the wrong button.

I appreciate your thoughts, it's hard to say goodbye but it was the right decision.

Weekly Doggie Update

I think I'm gonna start a feature of the Adventures of my animals. They are an endless source of not only entertainment but they keep us hopping too. Last Thursday night we came home to a limping pooch. Turns out she had broken a toe (would be your ring finger) and it was broke bad (her claw was facing side ways)
so we decided to have it (the toe) removed (at the suggestion of the Vet). She will heal faster and she isn't vain about her nails so off it came.

Now that it's not so tender she won't leave it alone, so my doggie update this week shows her sporting the latest in Canine accessories for the Spring Season,
The Cone Of Shame

On a different note, I'm finding so much good stuff and I can't wait to share pictures.
More hunting tomorrow.

It's getting warm here so if you are coming to Round Top/Warrenton, be sure to include some warm weather clothing as well as some cooler weather clothing. You never know about Texas in the Spring.

I Love Dug

Ok, so I know I'm behind the times, but I just saw the move "UP" and am in love with Dug.
As a dog lover you just have to love this talking dog of little brain. What I love most is that he looks so much like my mutt "Rikku". I can just imagine her saying the things that Dug says.
this is my favorite Dug Scene.

I love it because Dug has just been scolded, yet he still loves his Master. How often do they come back to us with love? If you can't tell, I'm a dog person.
Here's my sweet Dug Look-alike.

Unfortunately my little girl is getting gray in the snout and since we do not know her actual age, we count every day as a gift. She used to follow me around from room to room as I moved, but now she waits to see if I'm coming back soon. Her poor little legs have arthritis and make it difficult for her to move around as much, but her eyes are still as bright. And most of all, she loves me no matter what :)

Greyhounds in need of Help

As you may or may not know, I am involved with local Greyhound Rescue

Recently our local Rescue organization was called in on a very
heartbreaking case.
This is from their web site:
On Thursday July 8th, 2010, a rescue of what was thought to be 14 greyhounds took place in south Ft. Worth. When Ft. Worth Animal Care & Control arrived to pick up the hounds, it was discovered that there were actually 28 hounds, desperately in need of help. They were living outdoors in crates stacked on top of each other with no food or water.

Greyhound rescue was contacted immediately. The dogs were in very poor condition. They were covered with ticks. They were bone thin and many had pressure sores all over their bodies.

Funds are desperately needed to help with the medical care of these hounds.

If you feel lead to help, they are accepting donations here to help with the care and rehabilitation of these animals. No amount is too small.

Of the eight hounds in GU's care: 8 tested positive for Ehrlichiosis, 5 for Anaplasmosis, 1 tested positive for Heartworms and all where loaded with intestinal parasites.

My heart breaks for these animals, but they are lucky to have been rescued before it was too late. GU will bring them back to good health and help them to find forever homes, but it's expensive. Please help.

Round Top People and Pups

Today we'll be looking at folks I know you know. These gals are still busy working the sales everyday for the next week or so.

I love this one of Mindy, this was Thursday, set up day

Maggie & Lilly discussing the best way to decorate

Teresa Cano of Garden Antiques and Theresa of Time Worn Interiors

Gloria visits with another dealer friend. The conversation looks serious. :)

Ok, now for the pups. I for one do not shop with my dog. I'd be too concerned about their feet, and their need for water etc. But lots of people do and there were some cute ones out there for sure.

This was a litter of the cutest great dane pups. They were for sale, $600 ea, WOW!!!

This is either Maggie's or Lilly's puppy. She had her place on the pillow at the check out counter

Dressed for shopping

And when those cute little pups grow up, this is what they'll look like.
I love this breed, very gentle they are. But I couldn't afford to feed one.
