More Bonanza Projects

I got these wonderful old movie reels, and I wired them to this stand made from an old lamp base and rod for a little movie themed sculpture.

The project above was done by simply clipping an old glass slide on a weird stand that I had. The slide was purchased at the Bonanza. The slide is an advertisement for a movie.
Next, some close up's of a couple of my favorite vendors.

Project 3, Decopage Pumpkins

I told you that you had seen these before. This was one project I was anxious to get going on, as I'm planning to use it in my Winnie & Tulula's window display for This next month.

It was pretty easy, I used a flower/water decopage mixture. coated the paper pumpkins from Michael's. Rubbed with Old English polish and sprayed with clear coat. Then I added some home made springs and that was it. it was a bit messy though.

2 projects next post.

Bonanza Project #2 a little organization please!!!!

I was inspired by the Calendars put together by the Shops of Carver and Chaska with graphics designed by Sara Smith of Seasons in Carver.

The great thing about these calendars they created were the colorful covers. They were made from old Readers Digest Books. I was lucky enough to run a cross a box of books, the first weekend I was back, at an estate sale. Of course I picked them up.

As you can see the covers are beautiful. I modified my design a bit for expense reasons, and I didn't want to be a complete copy cat. I am making mine as organizers.

there are pages for Notes, Thoughts, Goals and even special pages to organize the holidays, with hand stamps for color. I also attached a key as a bookmark.

Their book had color photo's and calendar on high quality glossy paper. Mine is not quite so sophisticated, and I used jute instead of metal rings. I'm liking the result though, and I've already sold 2 at my booth.

The one I made for myself has a few added features. A string and button closure and a label holder.

Thanks Jane and Friends for the inspiration. This is a great project.

What is the next project you ask? We'll you've already seen a picture of it.

Bonanza Projects #1 a ROBOLADY

I didn't come back from the bonanza only with stuff, I came back with a head full, and a camera full of ideas. I'm gonna share these one at a time and here's the first.

This project was inspired by one I saw at The Painted Porch's space at the bonanza

Jenny Mead liked this one so much she bought it. As you can see they have a Halloween theme, made with old tin containers with various objects as hat, arms legs etc.

After getting home I began to think what could I use to make one of my own. I remembered this old plastic powder container, with my name on it, that I had been given by my SIL, and the gears began to turn. But what could I use for a head/face? The idea of using old printers type hit me when I was trying to get to sleep one night, and I just had to get up and start working on it.

Can you see the face? My Dh things the 8 is the eyes, but it's actually the mouth.
The I is the nose and the commas are the eyes.

I began to see that lots of combinations were possible.

I really like the IOU one on the left. I may switch out the one I made for this one.

I call the one on the bottom right, my Picaso face :)

Well the idea for the ROBOLADY wasn't mine, but the face definitely was. I love it when I have an original idea. It happens so seldom.

I think she looks great hanging out with other bits and pieces in my creative room.

The next project is getting "booked" right now.

Last Day in MN, Medina Flea and Hopkins

Wow, I've been talking about my MN trip for longer that I was actually there. sorry about that, but it was jam packed and I needed to give it the coverage it deserved. This is the only thing like this I do in a year and I'm making it a yearly thing from now on. My one treat to myself. On my last day, Sunday, I decided to drive over to Medina (where the bonanza was last year) and go to their sunday morning flea market. It did not disapoint.

The Flea market is in the parking lot of the Medina Entertainment Center. Familiar to me as the location of the last 3 junk bonanza's.
You can't tell from the picture but its a decent sized flea, yet small enough that you can walk it in about an hour.

This is where it was really painful that I had no way to purchase large items.
this carriage was only $25.

And I was loving the bob sled below as a potential coffee table. I didn't even bother asking the price, as I knew I couldn't get it. :(

Then I headed off to Hopkins, as I had seen many of their stores were open on Sunday. My favorite stop in Hopkins was at LeAnntiques, at 6 N 10th Ave in Hopkins.

She had the unique items I'm drawn too, with a definite primitive slant.

LeeAnn is very nice, if you stop by her place, tell her hello and that you found out about her here.

Loved this piece she had next to the checkout

This was the end of my trip, but not the end of the adventure. If you followed me on facebook, you'll know I got stuck at the DFW airport with a canceled flight at midnight monday evening. so close yet so far. So I called a friend who lives nearby, and she put me up for the night, and I rented a car and drove the 2hrs home on Tuesday Morning. I had to be at work Tuesday to do payroll. I did eventually get to work, and the guys got paid.
Thanks for the rescue Penny, you ARE the best.

Finally home, with my treasures, playing catch up for about 2 weeks to get everything back in order. But it was worth every bit of the travel woos and I'll be going again next year. Can't wait.

Next, some project ideas I brought back, and the projects I've made since my trip.

MN Excursion #2 Buffalo

I definitely wanted to re-visit Buffalo MN after having visited last year. I made the, about 1 hr trip, and found the familiar places that I had visited last year. Yesterday's charm was open but my friend Marge was not working that day. Darn it, sorry I missed you Marge.
Then I headed down the road towards one shop, when I spotted Annie's Attic. A quick u-turn and I was in heaven.
I may have visited this place last year, but I can't remember.

I could tell from the outside that this was going to be a great stop

I didn't take many pics inside, but there was lots of stuff. I have really developed a love for vintage Christmas, and those 2 tinsel wreaths (bottom shelf) came home with me.

As you walk out the back of the store, there is a small yard, and then a whole other building.

The yard had some very interesting things in it, and then there is the building out back. With some great stuff to be picked through. This is where I get sad that I don't have a truck to drive stuff home in. I had to leave so much behind.

Then I headed towards "the attic"

I knew immediately when I drove up that I had been here before. Yes the Red Shed Girls had brought us here a year ago, and it does not disappoint.

Project Alert: Here's a bed spring project for you gals.

Lots of pretties around every corner

I love crowded spaces, so much to discover.

This one had a festive feel

Red really catches the eye

That was Buffalo. There really is a lot more to see there. They have occasional sales so check to see if the stores are open before you drive all the way out there. When it is an sale weekend, you'll be in for a wonderful treat.

I was sad to see one of my favorite places from last year, Sweet Salvage, is no longer in business. It was a great place.
Next post we will visit Medina and Hopkins.
